First a little recent background on Ted Brewer. In 1979 Ted moved to Washington state and, over the next 20 years, produced 160 more designs including the very beautiful Whitby 55 ketch, the handsome 45' schooner SOPHIA CHRISTINA and the fast and powerful 68’ schooner TREE OF LIFE which was named by Sail magazine as one of the “100 Greatest Yachts in America.” Ted has now designed over 270 vessels, written three books and contributed many articles to numerous boating magazines. He is a charter member of the Society of Boat and Yacht Designers and as a sailor has raced in many parts of the world. In 1999 Ted and his wife Betty returned to Canada and settled on Gabriola Is, British Columbia where he continued to design ~ Brewer Designs Limited ~ custom yachts, sell stock plans, write for boating magazines, and on donated time, lecture at the Silva Bay Shipyard School. In June 2006 they moved to Agassiz, British Columbia. In addition to completing over 270 beautiful yacht designs, Ted has written three excellent books; one of them, Understanding Boat Design, is now in its 4th edition and has been a popular design primer for 30 years. Here at ~ About Ted ~ You can read Ted's complete history and believe me, it it well worth reading! Very interesting! Have some questions? Contact Us Today!

This is one fine Ted Brewer design... Designed for Motor Boating and Sailing magazine in order to provide the amateur craftsman with a modern, good performing cutter suited to long range, blue water voyaging. Construction of this yacht starts with a fiberglass moulded and laminated Airex cored hull with balsa cored deck. The hull to deck joint has a heavily glassed and overlapped section supplemented by stainless steel bolts on twelve inch centers through the external sheet track. The keel sump is a glass roved in reinforcement and the mast is stepped on an aluminum base plate which is thru-bolted and imbedded in the ballast. The chain plates are external bars welded to 3/8 inch backing plates with plate angles or gussets and laminated into the fiberglass laminate. The interior space is simply incredible! The cabin interiors are of teak plywood and with a teak & cedar sole. Fore and aft cabins are ash battened. The joinery work is excellent throughout this yacht. Have some questions? Contact Us Today!

More on the layout... The layout accommodates four to six crew in three separate cabins but this yacht is really intended as a live-aboard, long range cruising yacht for a couple, with plenty of room for occasional guests. Two couples could live aboard comfortably for reasonable periods of time as her large galley, separate navigation area, tremendous stowage and general privacy are rarely found on yachts of this size. This is a thirty-eight foot yacht but she seems much larger inside. Here is your quick access link for a Full Slideshow Presentation which includes a number of extra photos of this exquisite yacht. A very recent survey is available for serious clients. Have some questions? Contact Us Today!

Extremely well maintained yacht...The owner of this fine Ted Brewer designed and custom built yacht has maintained her professionally throughout the many years that he has owned her. Her varnish has all been renewed in the past couple of months. Her bottom is cleaned on a regular basis. She was hauled only two years ago and had a complete bottom job and hauled again this year for bottom painting. Her engine has less than 2000 hours and starts perfectly. All engine fluids are kept clean and changed regularly. This is a yacht intended to go to sea for long periods of time. She is a solid, seaworthy design that will take you around the world in comfort and bring you back safely. Here is your link to a Full Slideshow Presentation which includes a number of extra photos of this precious yacht. She is fully equipped and ready to explore the Caribbean.

Just like all of the fine Ted Brewer designs some very careful thought has gone into little things that mean a lot to a sailor at sea. For example this yacht has been equipped with twin bow anchor rollers in order to have two anchors ready to deploy. Two anchors means lots of tackle so the chain locker has been made as a two compartment locker! Speaking of ground tackle this yacht carries a 65 pound Bruce copy with 50 feet of chain plus rode. Also a 45 pound CQR with 100 feet of chain plus rode. Two smaller anchors ~ a 35 pound Bruce and a 35 pound Danforth ~ both with chain and rode are also included. Everything has been done for the convenience of the navigators. Every bit of the space has been utilized with storage lockers everywhere. This yacht is comfortable to live aboard and comfortable at sea. That's a winning combination! Spoil yourself... Contact Us Today!

Here is a good view of the Dickinson Alaska diesel cabin heater. This heater does not get much use down here in the Tropics but this yacht came down from Canada where the nights are cool and the winters are cold. Don't throw the heater away just yet because you never know where you might be cruising to! You might be happy to have it one day! You can also see the fine joinery work which is consistent through the yacht. Incidentally as an added bonus there is a brand new PUR 35 Gallon per day water maker on board that has never been installed and the owner says that it goes with the boat. A water maker is nice at sea!

Direct from Ted Brewer's Notes... "The all inboard cutter rig is easily handled and readily shortened down to a snug, inboard rig in a blow. The mast is keel stepped for strength and strongly stayed with double lowers and running backstays. The sail area is moderate but ample to move her along nicely in all but the lightest of breezes." Speaking of sails this yacht has included two main sails ~ one almost new and the other in fair condition. Also a jib and staysail are included and both are in good condition. A new spinnaker is aboard and has never been used. There is also a very heavy storm jib and a very heavy storm main. Mast steps have been installed for safety and convenience. Interested? Check out her photos and picture yourself sitting in the main cabin on the very comfortable settee and enjoying a quiet evening with a couple of friends discussing the day's events! Very nicely laid out as you can see in her drawings and extremely well finished. Ted Brewer designed this yacht to go to sea in safety and comfort. Under the guidance and expertise of Ron Gray she was built by Fraser Valley Fiberglass to Ted Brewer's specifications and probably overbuilt. She is definitely ready to take you and your family to wherever you want to go!
Stainless steel hand basin with hot and cold pressure water system. Very convenient layout with a new twenty gallon stainless steel holding tank for waste complete with Y-valve for overboard discharge or directly to the holding tank. Her water tanks carry a total of one hundred gallons of fresh water for extended cruising. Lots of storage area aboard this yacht and plenty of ventilation ports. Your complete family will be comfortable aboard this sturdy yacht.
Her Yanmar 3GM30 Marine Diesel engine is shown in one of the photos. Yanmar Marine diesels are known worldwide for the dependability and reliability. Replacement parts are available anywhere in the world. This engine starts instantly and runs perfectly. The engine compartment is very large and easy to work in so routine maintenance is not a problem. This engine has been well maintained by the owner of this yacht. Good value here! Interested? One of her photos was taken from the main salon looking forward into the V-Berth area. As far as I can tell this yacht needs very little other than a good cleaning. The owner is a bachelor and has lived aboard up until very recently so the woman's touch is missing here! Sails are all in great condition as is the rigging. Her Yanmar engine starts and runs perfectly. The construction of this yacht is according to the design of Ted Brewer and is strong and very professionally done. She was designed for Motor Boating and Sailing Magazine.
Looking forward to the large V-Berths you can see the excellent joinery work and the rich woods used in this yachts construction. Very comfortable in the harbour and equally comfortable at sea in all kinds of weather. The full keel configuration makes this yacht stable and easy to manage. Set your course and relax! Her reliable Yanmar diesel marine engine will provide you with many more years of service. You need to see this yacht.
This fine blue water yacht is located right here in Luperon Bay on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. The only problem with Luperon Bay is that people tend to fall in love with the place and never leave! There is a special attraction for sailors and the tremendous safety and protection provided by Mother Nature makes this bay one of the very best hurricane holes in the Caribbean. Read here what Julia Bartlett recently had to say about our own Natural Hurricane Shelter right here in Luperon Bay.

Just to sum things up... Due to a very serious health situation the owner of this fine yacht has just recently asked me to place her on the market for sale. This yacht has always been properly maintained and sailed on a regular basis. Two years ago she had a complete bottom job and this year had her bottom painted again at the Boca Chica yards here in the Dominican Republic. Construction of this yacht started with a fiberglass moulded and laminated Airex cored hull and a balsa cored deck. The hull to deck joint has a heavily glassed and overlapped section supplemented by stainless steel bolts on twelve inch centers through the external sheet track. She is a full keel deep water sailing yacht providing both comfort and stability at sea. Her center cockpit gives you a feeling of tremendous security. Except for some truly unfortunate circumstances this yacht would not even be on the market. If you are serious about blue water cruising then you owe it to yourself to visit and inspect this fine yacht. Luperon Bay on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic is just a short flight from where you are located. You will fly into the Puerto Plata (POP) International Airport.
