Bruce Nelson, of Nelson/Marek Yacht Design in San Diego, California, is the principal yacht designer for the AmericaOne challenge. Nelson is an America's Cup veteran, having filled the roles of both designer and sailor.
He has been a leading designer with America’s Cup syndicates since 1985, participating in the most extensive investigations of yacht performance ever undertaken. In 1995, he was the principal designer for the PACT 95 defense syndicate, whose yacht Young America, ultimately, was chosen as the defender.
Nelson was also lead designer of Stars & Stripes, the winner of the 1987 America’s Cup in Fremantle, Australia, and co-designer of the first-generation International America’s Cup Class (IACC) yacht Stars & Stripes. He is a University of Michigan graduate in Naval Architecture who has designed numerous winning offshore sailboats over the last decade, including the extremely successful IMS 50, Infinity. Most recently he designed the ILC Maxi Falcon2000 built by Cookson Yachts in New Zealand for Don Smith of Oklahoma.

This racing interior has four fixed lower berths and two pipe berth frames with covers, tackles & lines and lee cloths. The interior lighting is red and white dome lights and halogen reading lights. There are overhead hand rails. The galley features an Origo 3000 2-burner alcohol stove gimbaled and ice chest. Marine head with holding tank is located forward.

Newer design Carbon spade rudder with Composite stock and self aligning bearings. Deck Hardware is Lewmar and Harken. Harken Mainsheet Traveler.
