A brand new Westerbeke Diesel... Model 38-B marine engine was installed in 1996 and has now accumulated about 1800 hours of running time. This engine starts and runs perfectly. She is a four cylinder engine and her 2:1 reduction ratio transmission was also new in 1996. The engine cowling can be completely dismantled for the ultimate in serviceability. This yacht’s bilges are sparkling clean. Her stainless steel fuel tanks carry approximately 200 liters of diesel fuel. She has a total of three fully accessible fuel and water separators.
A Large Para-Tech sea anchor... is included for the unexpected moments. Ground tackle consists of a 35 pound Bulwaga, a 35 pound CQR, a 35 pound Bruce, a 80 pound dismantled Danforth, a 25 pound Danforth, and a folding dinghy anchor. To haul the anchors we have a Simpson-Lawrence Anchorman Electric Windlass with foot control. The grab bag also has a hand pump water maker.
An Aerogen Wind Generator... is installed along with an over current shunt type protector. Starting battery is an isolated and switched 12 volt marine battery. The Simpson Lawrence electric windlass has it's own 12 volt isolated and switched battery and the house banks contain three large 12 volt batteries, also isolated and switched. All of the battery boxes are well secured and properly ventilated.
Her galley is precious... with a gimbaled propane stove and separate counter for the deep stainless steel sinks. The built in refrigerator is cooled by an Adler Barber refrigeration unit. The marine head... makes use of a twenty five liter polyethylene holding tank. A new Jabsco marine head was fitted a few months ago. The head is located just aft of the V-Berth Stateroom on the port side. All hoses are approved types with double clamping throughout the boat.
All of the rigging... is in excellent condition and ready to head out to sea. Barlow and Lewmar winches, recently serviced, have been used throughout this vessel. All primary winches are self tailing. Her full batten, triple reefed mainsail is in good condition as are all of the sails. Harken roller furling head sail, jib stay sail, storm jib, tri-sail, four light sails, and a spinnaker. Sail covers and lazy jacks for your cruising safety and convenience.
The cockpit area... is well protected with a canvas dodger with zippered openings for air, and bimini top to keep any sun or spray off of you at sea. A full awning with removable zipper sides keeps you cool at anchor. External Port and Starboard tank holders each carry a twenty five pound propane cylinder. A ten foot Walker Bay hard dinghy complete with sails and a 2 hp Yamaha outboard motor comes with the mother ship.

Just to sum things up... Chris and Libby Bonnet, founders of the Ocean Sailing Academy in 1979, are very well known in South Africa and throughout the world. Their own company now, the Offshore Sailing Academy has taught well over 30 000 students over the last 30 years. One of the yachts used in their long distance training course was this particular Lavranos yacht. At the time she was called Spirit of Appetizer II so you can see that this fine yacht has a tremendous amount of experience!
This fine yacht will accommodate... seven people. Her large forward V-Berth sleeps two and she has an aft double berth and an aft single berth. In addition one additional person can sleep on one side of the dinette and another person on the other side.
This Lavranos 36 is pristine... She has been priced below market value for health reasons and she is always kept ready to go to sea.
